Wuxi Jinmao Company's "Little Fashion Designer" 2025 Summer Camp Successfully Completed
On August 14, 2025, Wuxi Jinmao Company carefully launched the third "Little Fashion Designer" 2025 summer camp activity in order to weave a colorful summer for employees' children, based on the continuation of the Love Summer Nursery Class. This three-day immersive journey, with textile intangible cultural heritage skills as the warp and Eastern aesthetic creativity as the weft, ingeniously weaves a cultural roots spanning ancient and modern times. Let the childlike spirit be immersed in intangible cultural heritage, perceive the warmth of parents' meticulous cultivation, and light up the spark of inheritance and innovation.
On the morning of the first day of summer camp, the opening ceremony was held as scheduled. Yang Nan, Chairman of Wuxi Jinmao Company, personally visited the scene and sent a heartfelt message to the children: "Seeing you enter the summer camp is like seeing hope for the future of the textile and design industry. I hope that during these three days, you can not only feel the charm of clothing and touch the warmth of intangible cultural heritage skills, but also understand the craftsmanship of your parents in their positions - the future. I look forward to you taking over the baton of textile and growing into a true fashion designer, letting the beauty of tradition shine in your hands." The first stop of the summer camp was the China Township Enterprise Museum. Through physical exhibitions, historical images, and other materials, everyone deeply understands the struggle of the older generation of entrepreneurs who have traveled thousands of mountains and rivers, endured countless hardships, spoken thousands of words, and gone through countless difficulties and dangers. The legend of '440000' deeply impressed the students with the hardships and difficulties of persevering in development, and also planted the courage and perseverance to forge ahead in their hearts. In the afternoon, Shao Yiran from Jiangnan University introduced and showcased the history of Chinese and foreign clothing, as well as the process of clothing design. From the dignified and elegant style of Han Tang Ni Chang in China, to the magnificent and exaggerated horse face skirts in the Ming and Qing dynasties, to the beauty of simple and neat cutting in modern clothing. Then we enter the hands-on practical stage - tie dye handkerchief. After the teacher's teaching explanation, the students folded or tied the white square handkerchief from the center, then used their imagination to tie it tightly with rubber bands and threads at any place, and used clips to clip out the patterns. After completion, they handed it over to the teacher to soak in blue dye. When unique tie dye works unfold slowly in the hands of children, every inch of fabric shines with its own unique vitality. In the square inch fabric, the students not only "dye" colorful patterns, but also have a sense of perception of the world, identification with traditional culture, and a heart that dares to create beauty.
The next day, the production of intangible cultural heritage paper skirts brought creativity to a climax. At the beginning of the course, the teacher showed the students some exquisite paper skirt products. The colorful and diverse dresses instantly caught the students' attention and stimulated their creative enthusiasm. Subsequently, the teacher provided a detailed introduction to the materials required for making a paper skirt and demonstrated the basic techniques step by step, such as the production methods of basic paper art shapes such as tight rolls, water droplet rolls, and crescent rolls. The students listened attentively and tried carefully. When making skirts, they fully unleash their imagination. Some choose to fold paper strips into wave shapes and stack them layer by layer to create a dynamic and flowing skirt; Some use paper strips of different colors to create a gradient effect. After more than an hour of effort, one unique paper skirt after another is presented before everyone's eyes. The students held their works with pride and joy on their faces. This intangible cultural heritage paper skirt production not only cultivates children's hands-on ability, but also exposes them to the symmetrical beauty and symbolic patterns of traditional clothing, invisibly bringing them closer to intangible cultural heritage and leaving a vivid imprint of protecting and inheriting traditional culture in their hearts.
On the third day, the teacher from the Design Development Department led the students into the world of clothing of fifty-six ethnic groups. The flowing light of Miao silver jewelry, the heaviness of Tibetan robes, and the lightness of Dai tube skirts are displayed in sequence, allowing students to experience the charm of multiculturalism in a vivid way. The subsequent "Introduction to Pet Products and Accessories" course added more childlike fun. The teacher showed off the types of clothes, accessories, and holiday costumes for pets, which the children enjoyed watching eagerly. Then it's time for the students to do it themselves - DIY Twisting Stick Dog. The students followed the teacher's demonstration and first folded the torsion bar to form a small dog with ears and head, a round body and limbs, and then glued black beads to make round eyes and noses, and decorated them with necklaces, sunglasses, bibs, and other accessories. When the twisting stick puppies of various shapes were completed, the students held their own works and took photos to share, feeling a sense of achievement. Everyone harvested the joy of creation in a relaxed atmosphere. In the afternoon, the core part of this summer camp arrived: Little Fashion Designer - Making Baby Clothes. At the beginning of the course, the teacher introduced the steps for making two types of baby clothes: skirts and overalls. The students eagerly picked up the fabric and began to draw. When sewing, although the stitches were slightly sparse and uneven, each stitch was full of intention - some people embellished their pants with small buttons, some chose floral fabric to create a fresh style, folding layered skirts, and some decorated the collar with lace, making the skirt gradually appear lively with the needle and thread. When exquisite overalls and delicate camisole skirts were worn on the dolls, everyone excitedly showcased their achievements. This children's clothing making course not only enhances students' manual sewing and size control abilities, but also cultivates aesthetic literacy in color matching and cutting, allowing students to learn meticulousness and flexibility in the practice of "measuring, cutting, and sewing", experience the sense of achievement of creating beauty by themselves, and stimulate their enthusiasm for exploring life aesthetics.
At the end of the creative and rewarding season, the third "Little Fashion Designer" summer camp of Wuxi Jinmao Company came to a successful conclusion. At the closing ceremony, Zhao Fen, the chairman of the labor union of Jinmao Company, encouraged the students to integrate the focus and creativity of this summer camp into their future learning and life, inheriting the valuable qualities of fearlessness and courage to explore in the spirit of "440000". Subsequently, the Director of Design and Development, Li Fang, presented each student with a graduation certificate and commemorative gift that condensed their efforts and growth. We sincerely hope that every little designer can turn this summer gift into a powerful force on the road to the future, bravely pursuing and carefully "cutting" their own dream blueprint. Wuxi Jinmao Company firmly believes that the warmth of an enterprise lies in its care for employees and attention to the next generation. In the future, while deeply cultivating our business and steadily developing, we will continue to build caring bridges, pay attention to the growth of employees' children, and work hand in hand with all employees to nurture vibrant and hopeful future stars, and create a warm and harmonious beautiful tomorrow together!
